As I was recording a screen cast today, I needed to run a PowerPoint presentation but not in full screen mode. By default the presentation mode, which allows the animations to run, launches the viewer in full screen mode.

To be able to run the presentation in a resizable window you need to change the slide show settings. From the ribbon (or menu bar in earlier versions) click “Slide Show” and select “Set Up Slide Show”.

In the Set Up Show window select “Browsed by an individual (window)” and select OK to close the dialog. Now when you go Slide Show (or Presentation) view, your slide show will launch in a resizable window, not full screen.
