How to change the default system font in Mac OS X The default system font in OS X is the type face used for displaying practically all system features, including menu items, system preference labels, titles for documents, the date and time, and other instances where system panels and programs display text. Apple's new system font, 'San Francisco', has two versions - 'Compact', for display on small screens like the Apple Watch, and a regular version for display on larger screens like macOS devices.

The San Francisco font is the new font that Apple have developed for the Apple Watch. I’ve managed to find a copy eventually, so here it is, available to download for Mac!

Have you tried using the Font Book.app program, which is located in your Applications folder and used its Validate function, located on the File menu of Font Book to analyze if you have any font issues? Usually the issues it may find are duplicate fonts, which could in theory slow down MS-Word. If it locates any duplicates, move the duplicate to the Trash and after completing the process you must do a full shutdown of the system. Best rpgs for the computer. In the case of 2011, a corrupt Microsoft Font cache file can cause an issue. Use a Font utility such as Font nuke to remove all font caches and allow the rebuilding of the cache files. The first time, after doing the font cache removal, it will take some time to rebuild. It should speed up matters tremendously after rebuilt.

I deleted all these. This has reduced the initial time for the fonts to be displayed in MS Word from c. 10 seconds to c. I should have been more precise in my first post. The delay of 6 (originally 10) seconds occurs the first time Fonts is accessed after opening a new or a particular existing document. Thereafter Fonts opens almost instantaneously. But as soon as anything is typed, whether saved or not, the delay in accessing the list of fonts returns.

I do not understand why that delay of several seconds occurs in MS Word (and MS Excel), but not in any other word-processing or generally text-involving app. It makes the MS apps almost unusable for any task that involves changing fonts.

Thank you very much for suggesting Fontnuke. I tried running it, but found some problems. On opening it, I was told that all running apps must be closed. There were only 2 or 3, but I clicked 'Close all apps'. This should have taken a few seconds, but the Apple beachball continued spinning for more than an hour.
