So I've ran into this issue and finally found a solution so i thought id share how i came about it. Problem: How to get hue lights to sync to my music playing on SONOS with the newly released Hue Sync App for Mac(.and Windows, but unfortunately this is only a solution for Mac) Caveat: You will need an Apple Tv and Playbar/Playbase or Sonos Beam (a speaker connected to your TV pretty much) Solution: So at first I was having a problem even getting the lights to sync with video via airplay to my Apple TV. And yes, for my solution you will need an apple tv.

Also had a problem getting my music to play through sonos but allow the Hue Sync app to sync my lights as well. Originally I would use the airplay button that appeared in the video player or music app, but that wouldnt work. Hue sync would still only Sync with what my computer was displaying. So ultimately, i found in the display settings the option to use an airplay device as a screen (ie my apple tv).

Also once you select your apple tv, you should see your apple tv display an extended desktop on your tv. Now in the Hue Sync settings a new display should appear (which wouldnt have been there prior to using airplay display). Select the new display and then select 'start light sync' If you full screen a video in the airplay display, Hue sync should sync the lights to your video.

Also in Q2 2018, the company plans to update its iOS and Android apps to version 3.0, bringing about a redesign of the app inspired by comments and feedback from current Hue users.

And it will work with audio as well. The music app does not need to be displayed on the TV, but airplay display must be enabled. Then you can continue one to grouping your speakers to play the TV audio and add the entertainment areas your want to sync, etc etc. Note: Airplay display lets your choose between Mirroring the built-in display or use airplay as a seperate display. Use the latter option. I know there's ALOT of steps to get this seemingly simple integration to work, but until its streamlined by hue, this is what ill do.

And it works amazing! BTW movies with the hue lights synced to the colors on screen look amazing! The dramatic lightsaber fights in starwars are so much more entertaining now!
