Excel Slicer For Mac
Excel for Mac has also added some new chart types to support even more powerful data visualization. The Waterfall Chart is one of the newly added types. What makes Slicers useful is the easy-to-use button interface and the fact that they don’t just work on PivotTables. Sending Feedback to Microsoft.
I am currently using Excel for Mac 2016 (version 16.16.2). I have a pivot table with 2 slicers. Depending on the value(s) selected in one of the slicers, some of the values in the other slicer will contain no data. Currently, when a slicer value contains no data, the value's background color is muted, but the item is still visible and selectable.
I'm looking for a way to completely remove slicer options when no data is present. If I right click on a slicer and select Slicer settings, I see an option labeled 'Hide items with no data'. This sounds like exactly what I want, but the item is greyed out. Is there something I need to do in order to make this option selectable? Please let me know if additional information is needed. Thank you in advance for any and all help.
Excel is not native on a Mac, so it's bounded to be slow - especially if you're using it on an old machine. As I see it, you have two options: 1) Upgrade to Office 2016, which includes a much more stable version of Excel. This solution suits particularly those with a fairly new Mac, since the new suite requires more computing power to run, but then flows much better; it also suits those who can access a 365 subscription for free (e.g. Uni students) 2) Switch to a competitor. There are very stable and fast alternatives on a Mac. Try out free suits like or, for example, or simply move over to Apple’s. Slow compared to?
What kind of Mac, how much RAM, how much disk/ssd space available? How many other apps running on your computer? Hold down Command-Tab to see how many icons show up in the center of your screen.
Depending on the size of the document you're opening, as well as Macros being enabled, etc.you might be surprised how fast it's really opening as it's running many processes. You can open a utility on your computer called Activity Monitor in your Utilities folder to see how many things launch when Excel is launched.
Might give you a few clues. Also, you can reboot your computer, then once you get to the desktop, run just excel by double-clicking that document, or just clicking the excel icon and seeing then if 'speed' is an issue. More than likely the issue has to do with maintenance. Excel for mac replace shortcut.
Google a program called 'Clean my Mac 3' and download the trial version. Run it on automatic clean and follow the prompts. Once that is complete go to your utility tools and find disk utility. Authorize it and run it and these 2 steps should clean up your Mac.
After that go ahead and open excel to see if it is still running slow. If it is still running slow go ahead and use Clean my Mac to delete the excel program.
Then reinstall excel and see if it's running at an appropriate speed. These steps should take care of the issue.
