Chrome how to Open link in new tab, on left-click. A few days ago, chrome stopped opening links in a new tab for me. I tried to find and set the setting (AGAIN) and now I can't find it.

If you conduct research online, you likely run into the problem of burying search results under a trail of links. It's frustrating to locate later a previous result, clicking backward through various pages to locate it. A better way to search is to open results in new tabs.

You can close the tabs that don't amount to much, keeping open the tabs that may aid your research. Sure, you can right-click on a link from Google's search results page to open it in a new tab, but that quickly grows tiresome.

Instead, tell Google to open results in a new tab by default. To do so, you will need to find Google's Search Settings page.

If Scroll Lock is on, the “ScrLk” key on the right side of the on-screen keyboard displays in blue. Click the “ScrLk” key to turn off Scroll Lock.

Follow this path to Search Settings: Once signed into Google, click your mug in the upper right corner and in the resulting pop-up window, click Account. Scroll to the bottom of the Accounts page and click the 'Visit the Search settings page' link. I did with my primary Google account that has Google+ profile, but not on my second, sans-Google+ Google account. For this second account, I could not find a route to the Search Settings page, so I simply did a search on Google for Search settings. Tip • To quickly open a link in a new tab on Google Chrome, hold down the control button while clicking on it with your mouse. On a Mac computer, hold down the command button rather than control. Open Link in New Tab It's often useful to have websites open in multiple tabs while you're using the Web so that you can read multiple websites, compare information, or attend to an urgent matter in one tab, then come back to your work in another one. All modern browsers support the use of multiple tabs, and when you open Google Chrome, it will remember which sites you had open in a previous session (if you've optioned for 'click to remember where you left off' in Settings) and reopen those tabs. Generally, you can hold down the control button – or the command key on a Mac computer – to open a link in a new tab. You can also click on a link and hold down the mouse without releasing, dragging the link to the browser's tab bar to open it in a new tab. If you prefer, you can also right-click on a link in Chrome or many other browsers to open a menu that allows a variety of options.
